BENGALURU: The police have registered a case against a Malayali cricket coach who sexually abused a woman on the pretext of marriage. The Konanakunte police have registered a case against Abhay Mathew (40), a coach at a private school in Gottigere, Bengaluru. The woman said Abhay, her daughter's coach, became friends with her four years ago by promising to help her with her divorce. He then, on the pretext of getting married, rented a house and made her stay with him two years ago.

However, the complaint alleged that when she asked to register the marriage, he threatened her and fled. The complaint said Abhay captured private pictures on his phone. However, in the video obtained by the police, Abhay claimed that he came to Kerala in connection with a land dispute. Abhay is heard saying that his intention is to marry her and that he will return and live with her.
