Sexually assaulted colleague after spiking her juice with liquor, lured her to his house claiming a party was being held there

MALAPPURAM: A court has sentenced a man to 12 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,05,000 for sexually assaulting a female colleague at his residence. The accused, John P Jacob (42), is a native of Perinthalmanna, Malappuram. It was Perinthalmanna Fast Track Special Court Judge S. Sooraj who delivered the verdict in the case. The incident related to the case occurred in 2021.

The case was investigated by the Perinthalmanna police. The accused, John Jacob, worked at a private hospital, where the victim also was employed. John Jacob lured the young woman to his house, claiming a party was being held there, but instead, he spiked her juice with liquor and sexually assaulted her after she became unconscious.

Non-payment of the fine will extend the accused's jail sentence by one year and two months. The investigation was handled by Inspector Sunil Pullickal and Sub-Inspector CK Noushad of Perinthalmanna Police.
