THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram District Crime Branch has filed a charge sheet against Eldhose Kunnappilly MLA in the sexual assault case. The MLA has been charged with rape and attempted murder. The charge sheet stated that Eldhose Kunnappilly sexually assaulted the complainant multiple times.
The woman hailing from Pettah in Thiruvananthapuram lodged a harassment complaint against Eldhose Kunnappilly on September 28, 2023. In her complaint, she said that Eldhose came to her house drunk and physically assaulted her. He then forcibly took her to Kovalam in a car. She also alleged that the MLA assaulted her on the way to Kovalam. Two friends of Eldhose Kunnappilly are also named accused in the case.
According to the charge sheet, the MLA first sexually assaulted the woman at a resort in Adimalathura. This incident took place in July 2022. He then sexually assaulted her at a house in Thrikkakkara and another house in Kunnathunadu. The charge sheet also stated that Eldhose tried to kill the woman by pushing her down in Kovalam. The MLA had known the woman for around 5 years.
Earlier, the Thiruvananthapuram Sessions Court had granted conditional bail to Eldhose Kunnappily in the case of physically assaulting the woman. The bail was granted under strict conditions such as he should not leave Kerala without the permission of the court and neither should influence the complainant or witnesses.
