Shoots video of assaulting youth, family lodges complaint against police

KOLLAM: Relatives complained that the accused in the case of smashing a police jeep using his own vehicle, was subjected to brutal torture by the cops. Sajeev of Pidavoor Sathyan Mukku Mavila in Pathanapuram was taken into custody. The complaint is that he was then forced to cut his hair, made him apologize and recorded all these on his phone and then brutally beat him in jail. His relatives alleged that the police then circulated the video of the attack on social media.

Sajeev, who was on the run, was arrested from Tamil Nadu. His wife Sindhu and other relatives said the police claim that the accused had released a pack of dogs towards the police during this time and that Sajeev had cut his hair and beard before going into hiding, are false. The family alleged that the police made the reel and staged a drama to get reach.

'Sajeev was arrested from Tamil Nadu. He was brutally tortured later and the reel was filmed. He was beaten and made to apologize. His hair and beard were forcibly shaved then. The police cut the hair which he had grown as part of a ritual following the death of his father. The video, which was forcibly filmed by the police, was later circulated on social media and ridiculed,’ Sindhu mentioned in the complaint. The family is planning to approach the chief minister and the court, seeking justice in the incident.
