KOCHI: A woman is suspected of poisoning her lover to death in Kothamangalam. The dead is identified as Ansil of Mathirappilly. The youth died last evening while undergoing treatment at Rajagiri Hospital. A media has reported that his female friend has been taken into custody in the incident. A murder case may be filed against her.

It is hinted that Ansil had given a statement in hospital that his female friend had mixed poison and given to him. It is heard that the police have received evidence for the woman buying poison. A case was initially registered for murder attempt. The police have decided to charge the woman with murder.

The reason for taking the drastic step is not clear. The woman is being grilled. The two had been in a relationship for quite some time. When the two had a fight, she filed a complaint with the police against Ansil. After that, the two became close again.

The woman later decided to sever ties with him. She then invited him home and poisoned him. She has confessed to the crime. A bottle of poison was found in a search from her house. The body of the youth will be handed over to his relatives after postmortem. Further steps will be taken after getting the postmortem report.

Greeshma of Parasala had earlier been sentenced to death by the court for killing her lover Sharon in a similar manner. Greeshma had laced poison in juice and given to him. Sharon died on October 25, 2022.
