KOLLAM: A youth has been accused of attempting to convert schoolgirls by pretending to be in love with them. Parents filed complaints with the Rural SP and Pooayappally police, alleging that the girls were mentally harassed and threatened by the youth.

The accused is a native of Oyoor Roaduvila. The case first came to light after a 17-year-old girl, who met the accused through Instagram, lodged a complaint. Following this, more girls reportedly came forward with similar allegations.

According to the complaint, the youth had pressured the girls to attend a 15-day class in Malappuram, which raised suspicions about conversion attempts. Rural police have launched a detailed investigation. BDJS leaders were the first to extend legal support to the victims, while BJP leaders visited the complainants’ houses yesterday.
