Ties knot with minor, sexually abuses her in Munnar, girl’s mother, youth arrested

PATHANAMTHITTA: A youth was arrested for sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl after marrying her with the consent of her mother. She was taken to Munnar and abused. The Malayalapuzha police arrested Amal Prakash (25) of Elanthoor Edapariyaram. Her 35-year-old mother has also been arrested in the incident. The accused became close with the girl after making calls and sending messages. The girl then went missing from last Saturday.

With the consent of her mother, he took the girl from her home to Chuttippara. He then tied the nuptial knot with her mother’s consent. After making her believe of the marriage, the three left for Munnar at 5 pm. They took a room in a hotel near Munnar town and stayed there. When her mother went to the washroom, he abused her sexually.

Meantime, the Malayalapuzha police had registered a case based on her father’s missing complaint. Later, with the help of the cyber cell, the police came to know that the three were in Munnar. The investigation team reached the hotel at 7 am on Monday and arrested Amal and the girl's mother. The girl has been housed at the Nirbhaya Home in Konni.

A case has been registered against her mother under the Juvenile Justice Act. They were produced in the court. The investigation was led by Malayalapuzha police inspector K S Vijayan.
