THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The NIA will probe into the attack on the police station in Vizhinjam after the strike against the construction of the port turned violent. NIA officials will reach Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday for this purpose. They have sought a report from Vizhinjam police regarding the incident. The investigation is to find out whether there was outside intervention in the attack.

At the same time, the state intelligence report submitted to the Chief Minister reveals that the former members of the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI) are involved in creating terror by obstructing the construction of the Vizhinjam port and attacking the police station, and subequently create riots. A nine-member group led by a senior priest with foreign connections is conspiring to carry out a radical strike.

Former members of the Green Movement, which was the environmental organization of the Popular Front, infiltrated the strike and led the riots. According to the report, there are anti-leftist environmental organizations, Maoist Frontier Organization, radical Islamic thinkers etc. involved in this.

Part of this is the planned nature of the riots, in which even the policemen were brutally attacked. It is also reported that they have prepared a plan to create a situation in which rock for the port construction cannot be obtained by staging a strike at the quarries.

He also planned to organize the people of the Western Ghats and form a new series of struggles. Realizing this critical situation, the Chief Minister suggested that a special police team be formed for the security of Vizhinjam and DIG Nishanthini be given charge. The DGP was also directed to take precautionary measures.

Intelligence have got information that former PFI cadres frequented strike venue at Vizhinjam. Though the present situation is calm, there is a warning that if there is a sudden provocation, there will be another conflict.

Intelligence is probing the financial transactions of those leading the strike. Kerala Kaumudi had reported that the voluntary organizations supporting the strike committee were receiving foreign funds.
