
KOZHIKODE: More details have come out regarding the woman and man who were arrested with MDMA in Kozhikode. The accused have been identified as Muhammad Haneefa P (36), a native of Poolapoyil, Mukkam, and Reihanath (45), a native of Beypore currently residing in Poolappoyil. The two were arrested by the DANSAF team from two different locations under the Mukkam Police Station limits. A total of 2.5 kilograms of MDMA, which they had brought for sale, was seized from them.
Muhammad Haneefa was arrested on Thursday morning in front of the Agasthyanmoola Civil Station in Mukkam with 517 grams of MDMA. Five days earlier, he had gone along with Reihanath to procure the drugs. He was caught while attempting to sell the substance after returning to the area. Police had received information that he had gone to collect drugs along with a woman. Based on this, an operation was carried out, leading to his arrest.
According to the police, Haneefa used to transport drugs from Delhi and Bengaluru and frequently travelled to Delhi by flight for this purpose. Reihanath had also been under police surveillance, and it was found that she often stayed at Haneefa’s rented house. A subsequent raid led to the seizure of 2.286 kilograms of MDMA.
Police also stated that Haneefa had earlier been involved in cattle trade, transporting cattle from Odisha and selling them in Andhra Pradesh and other places. He later shifted to drug trafficking.
