Youth commits suicide after hitting mother on head with grinding stone

KASARGOD: A youth committed suicide after hitting his mother with a grinding stone. He has been identified as Sujith Kumar (20) of Madikkai. His mother Sujatha (52), who sustained serious injuries has been admitted at Kannur Government Medical College.

The incident happened on Sunday at 11:30 pm. Only Sujith Kumar and Sujatha were at home. Sujith hit Sujatha on her head with the stone while she was sleeping. Blood was oozing from her head and she fell unconscious. When she regained consciousness a few hours later, she found her son hanging from the fan. She immediately went and informed her neighbour. Though they took both to the hospital, Sujith could not be saved. The police said that only after taking the statement of Sujatha, a clarity would be obtained on the incident. Sujith Kumar is a final year student of Cheemeni Engineering College.
