Youth intervenes in friend’s relationship, gets beaten to death

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A youth was beaten to death during a confrontation in connection with his friend’s breakup with a woman in Varkala. The dead has been identified as Amal of Kollam and he died while undergoing treatment. He was beaten on October 14. The Varkala police have arrested three people in connection with the incident.

A woman of Kannamba and Amal's friend were in a relationship. However, after the relationship broke, Amal and his friend's relatives went to her house to hold talks. In between the talks, the girl's father entered into a verbal argument with his friend's relatives. This led to a physical altercation and in the melee, Amal was hit on the head.

Amal, who returned to his own house, vomited blood the next morning. His relatives rushed him to the hospital and told them that he had fallen from a coconut tree. However, the doctor grew suspicious and informed the police. In the meantime, his health deteriorated and he died. In the detailed interrogation by the police, relatives revealed that Amal was beaten in Varkala.
