KANNUR: Fathima, mother of Rasina, who committed suicide at Kayalode in Kannur, said her male friend is behind her suicide. He grabbed her gold of 40 sovereigns. The people arrested by the police are innocent. Her mother said there was no moral hooliganism.

‘They reacted as brothers when she was seen with a strange youth. My brother-in-law and his children questioned them. When she was seen with the youth in the car, they asked her to get out and then dropped her at home. The male friend trapped my daughter and then he was set free. Those jailed are innocents. Her male friend of Mayyil snatched all her gold. A complaint will be lodged against him with the chief minister and police. We came to know about her relationship with the youth only now.

At the time of her marriage, we gave her gold of 40 sovereigns. She has no gold now. Came to know that she has borrowed money from many. He took all her money. My son-in-law is a gentle person. He doesn’t know all these things. The male friend visits her frequently,’ said Fathima.

Meantime Kannur city police commissioner said the cause of her suicide is moral hooliganism. A case of culpable homicide has been charged against the three SDPI activists arrested. Commissioner Nithil Raj said from the suicide note recovered, she has not mentioned anything about her friend. The accused attacked the youth and he had gone missing now, the officer said. The investigation is conducted by a team led by Thalassery ACP.

Rasina was found dead last Tuesday. A suicide note was recovered from the room. An investigation conducted arrested the three mentioned in the suicide note. A group had questioned her when she was seen with the youth near Achankara Church in Kayalode on Sunday evening at 3 pm.

The group detained the youth for five hours and later grabbed his mobile phone and tab. Both the relatives of Rasina and the youth were called to the SDPI office. The youth was released with his relatives late at night. The police found the mobile phone and tab from the youths.
