THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The doctors of the medical college hospital responded on the complaint of the family of Venu of Kollam, who died following non-availability of treatment at the medical college. Dr Mathew Iype, head of the cardiology department of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, stepped forward responding on the controversies. The doctors responded that all patients reaching the hospital are treated alike.

‘All patients are alike for us. It is not right to reveal the information of the patients. As it stoked a controversy, let me tell you a few things. The patient came to the hospital on November 1 with chest pain. He met the doctor of the cardiology department. It was confirmed to be cardiac arrest. He reached the hospital 24 hours after the pain started.
There is no lapse in treating Venu. Treatment as per protocol was given. As the time got delayed, we were unable to provide primary angioplasty. Other medicines were given. Heart failure occurred on the evening of November 5. The best treatment was given. No matter what treatment is given for heart attack, there is 10 to 20 percent chance of death. He was young. I don’t know about Venu's audio message. I conducted an examination over it. Venu was given all the necessary treatment. Patients are told about their condition,' said the doctor.

Meantime, Venu's wife Sindhu levelled serious allegations against the medical college. While talking to the media. Sindhu said that he was forced to lie on the road and no medicines were given even when he had acute pain.
