THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The interrogation of UDF convener Adoor Prakash in the Sabarimala gold theft case has been completed. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) questioned him for about two and a half hours. He told media that the team asked about matters related to Potty and answered their questions. It is up to the investigating officers to say whether the answers given were satisfactory. He said they did not ask about financial matters and that there was nothing unusual in being summoned for the interrogation. Adoor Prakash reacted angrily to the question whether he would be called again for questioning.
Adoor Prakash appeared for questioning at the crime branch office this morning. The SIT summoned him to the crime branch office seeking clarification on some matters. Pictures of Adoor Prakash with Unnikrishnan Potty, the first accused in the case, had emerged earlier. The investigation team had also sought clarification on this matter and whether he had received any gifts from Potty. Adoor Prakash was also with Potty while meeting with Sonia Gandhi. Adoor Prakash had repeatedly told the media that he had no other connection with Potty other than as a voter in the constituency.
It is also reported that the SIT may question former minister Kadakampally Surendran again in connection with the gold theft. The questioning is being done to clarify some of the statements made by Kadakampally during the earlier questioning.
Congress MP Anto Antony may also be questioned in the case soon. It was earlier alleged that Anto Antony received money from a private financial institution in Thiruvalla where the Tantri had deposited Rs 2.5 crore and that the MP's mysterious transactions should be investigated. The ED had conducted searches at this firm and the owner's house the other day.
The interrogations are believed to be crucial as the investigation in the case is nearing its final stage. The high court had stated the other day that the investigation is in the right direction and that no one who stole the gold will escape.
