THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Enforcement Directorate will soon issue a summons to question Unnikrishnan Potty, the main accused in the Sabarimala gold robbery case, who came out of jail securing bail on Thursday. Evidence of Potty's illegal wealth was found during the raid at his house. Property worth Rs 1.3 crore was frozen.
Potty came out of jail after receiving bail in the door frames case on Thursday, after the SIT failed to submit a chargesheet within 90 days. Meanwhile, it is reported that Potty and his relatives will be under the lens. Visitors at Potty's residence and his travels will be monitored. The phone numbers of Potty and his close relatives are under the surveillance of the Cyber Cell. Any move to destroy the evidence will seriously affect the case.
SIT informed the High Court that a detailed charge sheet will be submitted soon. The court, which expressed faith in the SIT, had made it clear that the accused will not escape even if they get bail.
Kollam Vigilance Court Judge Dr C.S. Mohit granted bail to Potty on two sureties of Rs. 2 lakh each. Potty is the fourth accused to be released in the case. His passport was submitted to the court. He has to appear at the Thiruvananthapuram Crime Branch office on Tuesdays and Fridays, and is not allowed entry into the Pathanamthitta district. Potty cannot leave Kerala without permission, shall not influence witnesses, destroy evidence, and shall not speak to the media. He had earlier been granted bail in the case of stealing gold from Dwarapalaka sculptures. Public Prosecutor Siju Rajan appeared for the prosecution, and Sasthamangalam S.Ajithkumar and M.R.Abhishek Nair appeared for Potty.
