KOTTAYAM: NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair stepped forward with an explanation for withdrawing from the NSS-SNDP alliance. Nair while talking to the media said that he felt the alliance was a trap and so changed the decision. Sukumaran's response was after the statement of SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan.
‘The NSS board of directors decided not to have an alliance. No one intervened to withdraw. It was Vellappally Natesan who wanted an alliance. I replied that it would be possible. Thushar also called after that. He said that he would meet me in three days. Why wait for so many days? I felt that the alliance was a trap. I decided not to fall into it,' said Sukumaran Nair.
Sukumaran Nair also criticized opposition leader V D Satheesan. Satheesan had said that community organizations should not interfere in political parties, and so he openly said that they should not approach the community organizations.
'Satheesan's words and actions are two different things. He should have said publicly that he was wrong. Nothing will happen in this matter anymore. He had sent a messenger in between. I only disagree with his remarks against the community. Non-political members of the Nair community will not go against the NSS decision. Satheesan has come here before seeking NSS support. I had then called the NSS leadership in Paravur to support V D Satheesan. The situation then is not the same as now. People who know nothing about NSS are talking nonsense.
The community members in Paravur will take a decision according to their wishes this time. Will meet whoever comes to Perunna. They are not coming to my house. No matter who rules, there is no need to beg. We should get what we have to get legally. Otherwise, will go to the court. The present government is not like the BJP or the Congress. They won through their politics. ‘NSS does not speak against minorities. All community members are important to NSS,’ said Sukumaran Nair.
