THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The hospital authorities said that it is dangerous to remove the guide wire left in the chest of a woman following medical negligence. Experts assessed that there is a possibility of blood vessels bursting during surgery. They said they will inform Sumayya about this.

The medical board has decided to convince her of the risks if Sumayya demanded to remove the guide wire. The important decision was taken at the medical board meeting held here today. The experts are of the stand that it is safe to keep the guide wire inside the chest.

The guide wire got stuck during a thyroid surgery performed at the General Hospital two years ago. When she began experiencing physical difficulties, the doctors at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences, asked her to take an X-ray. It was then found that the guide wire was still embedded in her chest. When the hospital was informed about this, the doctor who performed the surgery did not acknowledge it. The wire is stuck in the chest and it is difficult to remove it. The doctors had earlier said that if tried, it would be life-threatening.
