Three of family drown in Puliyav River in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: Three members of a family drowned in a river in Nadapuram on Saturday. Ansar, his wife Suhada Mariam and Ansar's niece Kensa Mariam, all natives of Puliyavu in Nadapuram, died in the incident. The incident took place in the Puliyav River at around 4 pm on Saturday.

The family came to the riverbank to wash clothes. Meanwhile, the child slipped from the edge and fell into the water. Ansar and his wife drowned while trying to save the child. The area where the child fell was known for its depth. Their bodies have been shifted to the Nadapuram hospital.

The rescue operation was initially carried out by locals nearby. Later, an expert team arrived and pulled the bodies out of the river. Initial information suggests that all three victims died on the spot.
