PUTHUPPALLY: Puthuppally candidate Chandy Oommen came to vote wearing black in protest against the witch-hunt that his father went through under the LDF government. Chandy came to vote at booth number 140 of the Georgian Public School in Puthuppally with his mother Mariyamma Oommen, and sister Maria Oommen.

Chandy Oommen:

"Today, Puthuppally and Kerala will vote against the Left government. The government unjustly hunted my father for nine years. The brains behind incriminating my father are still getting protection from this government. The black is a protest against it. The insult Ommen Chandy faced is still a wound among the people of Puthuppally.

They continued with the hatred by not providing funds for development activities. Development activities were stalled due to this. Bridges and super speciality hospitals are still standing where the Oommen Chandy government left them. The unfinished civil station was named after my father. Do you want to insult us like this? Do you want to name an unfinished institution after him? We were hunted down even after his death.

For three years, they weaved stories to hurt my father. Later came a CBI investigation, and then the government washed its hands, saying it had no involvement in hurting the former chief minister. How can we forget the pain my father went through? The protest will be shown by people in the polling booth.

My protest is against all the issues that have affected the state, including the Sabarimala gold theft. People will show the same when they go to the polling booth."
