‘I met Potty every time at Sabarimala, did not keep records of interactions’

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kadakampally Surendran MLA said that he had gone to the house of Unnikrishnan Potty, the main accused in the Sabarimala gold theft, only once. He also said that he had gone to his house while serving as a minister along with his gunman in his official vehicle. Potty's neighbor Vikraman Nair had told the media the other day that Kadampally had visited Potty's house twice while he was a minister.

'I didn’t go privately, went with my gunman in my official vehicle. When the news came that he had gone more than once, asked the gunmen who were with him at that time. The incident happened seven or eight years ago and there could be some memory loss. They also remember going there only once. I didn’t go for a child’s function; it was a function related to Potty's father. I reached there after the function. Someone had kept a gift there and I handed it over to him. I returned after having food. I don't have the habit of writing diary. I am saying everything from my memory.

I’ve met Potty every time I visited Sabarimala. Until 2025, Potty was seen as a person without any stigma. Only later his true face became clear. So, I don't mind saying that I have seen him many times. Didn't Potty visit Sonia Gandhi, that would have been before she knew that he was tainted. I don't think Sonia Gandhi would invite a tainted person to her house. When some released pictures against the CPM, others may have released contradictory pictures to defend it,' said Kadakampally.
