THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a speech in Malayalam after dedicating Kerala's proud project to the nation. He said that he is happy to be able to visit Kerala again and congratulated the people of Kerala.
His words
My greetings to everyone. I am happy to be able to visit the land of Sree Ananthapadmanabhan once again. Today is Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti. I was able to visit his birthplace three years ago. He left Kerala and tried to fill the national spirit by establishing various Mutts in different parts of the country. I bow my head before him at this historic moment.
I congratulate the people of Kerala along with others. Friends, Kerala has a vast ocean on one side and beautiful natural areas on the other. In between, the Vizhinjam port is located as a model of new generation development. Vizhinjam Port was established with an investment of Rs 8800 crore.
Now the transshipment hub will be increased three times from its present capacity in the coming years. With this, the world's largest cargo ships will be able to reach here. For so long, more than 75 percent of transshipment was done in ports outside India. This caused a lot of economic loss to the country. This situation will now be changed. The money of our country will benefit us. The money that was flowing out will now benefit Kerala, Vizhinjam Port and through it to the people.
Kerala's share in maritime trade was much larger earlier. People used to go to other countries for trade through the Arabian Sea. The center has decided to strengthen this channel again.
Adani completed the construction of Vizhinjam Port very quickly. Adani's port has been operating in Gujarat for 30 years. However, he built such a big port in Vizhinjam, Kerala. For that, he will have to listen to the complaints of the people of Gujarat. The issues related to our airlines will also be given due attention.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Shashi Tharoor are the main leaders of the India alliance. Today's function will give sleepless nights to many. The country's major development projects are being implemented through public-private partnership. When the ports minister was speaking, he pointed at Adani and said private sector should be given priority. This was said by a communist minister and is a sign of a changing India.
