KOCHI: Director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan said in a Facebook post that he has been detained at the Mumbai airport. He said this action is based on a lookout notice issued by the Kochi police. The notice was issued against him based on a complaint filed by actress Manju Warrier. The Kochi police may reach Mumbai and take him into custody from the airport. Meantime, the airport police has not confirmed that he is in custody.

The director responded in the post that the case filed against him in 2022 has not been investigated yet and Manju Warrier's statement not recorded. He asked why the police are hesitant to record the actress’ statement. He had informed yesterday via a Facebook post that he would return to Kerala. The director had also stated that he is planning to sleep on the footpath of the Secretariat along with the protestors seeking justice.

His post
The case filed against me in 2022 has not been investigated. Manju Warrier's statement has not been recorded. When released the audio of her saying that there was a threat to the lives of Manju and her daughter last December, efforts were initially made to prevent it from reaching the public. However, when it came to light, another false case was filed against me. In that too, Manju Warrier did not give her statement.

Instead, the police spread the news that the statement she gave before a magistrate in another court that there was a threat to her life was the statement she gave against me. So far, the police have not filed any report in the court in the cases filed against me. There is no arrest warrant against me. There is no verdict or charge sheet. But there is a lookout notice against me? How? According to what procedure? Why are the police reluctant to record Manju Warrier's statement. If you don't question the fact that someone is being hunted down without following due process to cover up the issues he raises, journalists, you are not the fourth pillar of democracy. You are a grave. Please ask questions. What is the procedure? What is the case? What does the complainant have to say? Questions are not to be swallowed. They are to be asked out loud.
