THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala local body electoral roll published on September 2 has a total of 2,83,12,463 voters. The revised final electoral roll has been prepared on the basis of polling stations in the new wards after the re-division of wards in local bodies.
There are 1,33,52,945 males, 1,49,59,242 females and 276 transgenders in the list. The voters' list was prepared by including those who completed 18 years of age on or before January 1, 2025. In addition, there are a total of 2087 people in the expatriate voters' list. The final voters' list has been published for 17337 wards of 941 gram panchayats, 3240 wards of 87 municipalities and 421 wards of six corporations in all 14 districts.
The electoral roll is available for inspection on the commission's website and at the respective local bodies, taluk and village offices. The final electoral roll was prepared by the Electoral Registration Officers (ERO) after examining the applications and objections received till August 12 and conducting hearings regarding the draft electoral roll.
The draft electoral roll published on July 23 for the update of the brief electoral roll had a total of 2,66,78,256 voters. There were 29,81,310 new applicants for inclusion in the electoral roll. 13,859 people applied for correction of entries, and 1,80,789 people applied for change of ward/polling station. A total of 4,88,024 applications were received for the deletion of names from the electoral roll.
There were a total of 2,76,56,910 voters (1,31,72,755 males, 1,44,83,915 females and 240 transgenders) for the 2020 general elections. There were a total of 2162 people in the expatriate electoral roll.
