THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A spike in COVID-19 cases has been reported in Kerala, evoking concern among the populace. 273 COVID-19 cases were reported so far in May. However, health experts warded off the fear factor and opined that it was normal for COVID-19 cases to spike at certain intervals.
According to the figures published by the Health Ministry on Monday, 95 people are undergoing treatment for Covid in the state. In the second week of May, 69 people were reported to have Covid. One person died due to the disease in Kerala. 164 people have sought treatment across the country. According to the Health Ministry, the highest number of cases have been reported in Kerala.
The figures are 34 in Tamil Nadu and 44 in Maharashtra. Not a single case has been reported in UP. The Health Department gloated this as a result of the state’s accurate data collection unlike in other regions.
273 cases were reported in Kerala in May. The district figures are as follows: 82 in Kottayam, 73 in Thiruvananthapuram, 49 in Ernakulam, 30 in Pathanamthitta, and 26 in Thrissur. The districts are advised to be vigilant as more cases are being reported in South East Asian countries.
The relatively mild Omicron variant of Covid is currently spreading. Elder citizens with respiratory issues need to be taken care of.
