KOCHI: In a horrific incident, a motorcyclist sustained severe burn injuries after acid spilled from a lorry and splashed onto his body. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Tuesday between the Venduruthy Bridge and Thevara Junction in Kochi.

The injured man has been identified as Bineesh, a native of Thoppumpady. He was riding his bike behind the lorry when it hit a pothole, causing the acid containers to tip over and spill. The acid fell mainly on his hands and neck, leaving him with serious burns. Bineesh was immediately rushed to the hospital and is currently being treated in the ICU at Ernakulam General Hospital.

According to reports, the lorry’s top cover was left open, and locals alleged that the acid was being transported without proper safety precautions. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
