KULATHUPUZHA: A man who was riding a bike died tragically in an accident when a wild boar jumped across the road. The tragic death was for Adarsh (29), the only son of Ajayan (retired KSEB officer) and Sreelatha couple living in Ramamangalam, Thiruvananthapuram. Adarsh was an engineer at Speridian Technology Company in Thiruvananthapuram Technopark. The accident took place at 5 am yesterday near the Venkolla Sankhili Forest Office on the Madathara-Kulathupuzha road of the hilly highway.

The accident occurred while he was going to Kodaikanal from Thiruvananthapuram with his friends. The bike overturned after hitting a wild boar that had run out of the forest onto the highway. Adarsh fell far away. He was wearing a helmet but suffered serious injuries, including to his head. It was raining heavily. An ambulance was called, but they said it would be late, so Adarsh had to lie on the road bleeding for a long time.

The rescue operation was carried out by the Sankhili section forest guards, who arrived after hearing the cries of their friends. Adarsh was taken to the Kadakkal Taluk Hospital in a local resident's jeep, but could not be saved. A wild boar of the rogue category, weighing about 100 kg, also died in the accident. Adarsh's body was shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.

Car in custody

The Chithara police have taken the car suspected to have been at the scene of the accident into custody from a Honda showroom in Thiruvananthapuram. The driver's door was smashed, and the bumper and number plate were damaged. The police suspect that Adarsh may have been thrown off the bike when the boar hit him and hit the car. The forest guards said that the postmortem report shows that the car went over the boar's body.
