THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Afaan, the accused in the Venjaramoodu mass killing, expressed wish to meet his parents. Reports said that he told police that all he has done is wrong. Afaan is in jail after interrogation and collection of evidence. The authorities said that he had a suicidal tendency earlier but now he is fine. Afaan is under observation in the special block.
Meantime, the police have confirmed that the reason behind the Venjaramoodu mass killing is huge financial obligation. Police said the huge financial obligation is due to the lack of financial discipline of Afaan and his mother. Even after having a huge debt to pay off, Afaan had bought a bike for Rs 2 lakh. The police are in the process of filing a charge sheet in the case soon.
Afaan and his mother did not have a penny. On the previous day of the murders, Afaan had borrowed Rs 200 from his female friend. The police had questioned Afaan and his father Abdul Rahim together. Rahim burst into tears seeing Afaan and asked him ‘you destroyed everything’. Afaan then said that as he didn’t want his see his mother and brother begging, committed the act.
The mass murders that shook Kerala happened on February 24. He killed five including his brother and lover after hitting them on their heads with a hammer. He grievously injured his mother. After committing the murders, he surrendered at the police station.
