KANNUR: The big hole in the ballot box used for home voting has stoked a controversy. Sunny Joseph, the candidate and MLA of Peravoor, alleged that the hole in the ballot box used for home voting in the constituency is too big. Sunny Joseph also asked why the ballot box has a hole that can fit fingers into it.

Sunny Joseph said that he thought the collector, who is also the district presiding officer, would act after understanding the seriousness of the incident but what happened was different.

He spoke to the collector by showing the picture of the hole in the ballot box. Instead of saying the hole is too big and would find a solution, took a negative approach. The collector has no answer in this regard. Sunny Joseph alleged that this is deliberate and is an attempt to sabotage the election. Sunny Joseph has demanded that either the central election commission or the chief electoral officer of Kerala should intervene to ensure that the election process in the district is conducted fairly.
