
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A yellow alert has been issued in seven districts of the state today. Light rain with thunderstorms is likely at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam of Kerala in the next three hours. Strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph are also likely, said the IMD. The reason for the rain is a low-pressure area in the Indian Ocean.
Strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph and at times up to 60 kmph and bad weather are likely along the Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts. Therefore, fishing is not recommended along the Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts today. The IMD also said that there will be no hindrance to fishing on the Karnataka coast today.
There were heavy rains in many places in the southern districts of the state last evening. The rain that started in the evening lasted until night. There was waterlogging in many places. Meantime, the heat wave will continue in North Kerala. As the daytime temperature has increased steadily, the working hours of those working in the sun have been rearranged. The order says rest should be allowed from 12 noon to 3 pm. This will continue till May 20.
