Athulya’s husband a ‘troublemaker’ in hometown, reached home after jumping wall 

KOLLAM: More information has emerged in the death of Athulya (30), who was found hanging at her flat in Sharjah. Her relatives said that her husband Satheesh Shankar is a suspicious person. They alleged that he did not allow her to talk to anyone.

The police got information that Satheesh was also a troublemaker in his hometown. A neighbor said that when Athulya returned home after a fight, Satheesh jumped the wall and reached her house with a group of men at 3 am. He tried to attack her and her family. The neighbor said that he prevented them from attacking them.

Satheesh’s colleague told media that the former was warned for coming to office in an inebriated condition. He had created troubles everywhere. He never comes to office on time, said his colleague.

A special police team will investigate Athulya’s death. The investigation is being led by Chavara SHO S Sreekumar. Efforts are being made to bring Satheesh home. Thekkumbhagam police led by sub inspector L Niyas had recorded the statement of her mother Thulasi Bhai. In addition to the murder charge, more than six sections including dowry harassment and grievous bodily harm with a knife and weapon have also been filed.

Athulya was found dead at her flat in Sharjah on Saturday early morning. She was a native of Koyivila in Thekkumbhagam, Chavara. She had been living in Sharjah with her husband Satheesh Shankar for a year. Satheesh Shankar is an engineer in a contracting company in Dubai. Satheesh said that she was found hanging when he returned home from Ajman. The couple's only daughter Aaradhika is studying in a school in Kollam.
