Attacked by bear while collecting herbal plants; tribal youth injured

MALAPPURAM: A tribal youth was injured in a bear attack in Nilambur. Keeran, a resident of Vallikettu Nagar in Karulai, is the one who was injured. The incident happened today around 11 a.m. Keeran was collecting herbal plants in the Nedunkayam forest area when a bear hiding in the bushes attacked him. He suffered injuries on his thigh.

Keeran’s wife Indira and his sister Balamani were nearby. Hearing his cries, they rushed to the spot, and the bear ran back into the forest. Keeran was immediately taken to the Nilambur District Hospital. This is the second day in a row that reports of wild animal attacks have come from the Nilambur region.
