PALAKKAD: The forest department has issued a warning to avoid night travel after a leopard was spotted near a school in Malampuzha. The leopard was spotted in the Agasthyathara and Kottakkad forest limits in Malampuzha. The forest department and the police have advised that unnecessary travel should be avoided completely.

The leopard was first spotted by car passengers near a government school at 11.15 pm last night. Forest guards have deployed two teams to confirm the presence of the leopard and intensify surveillance in the area. They will continue to monitor the area around the clock. The forest department has collected more information from those who reported seeing the leopard.

The Forest Department is trying to check CCTV footage of the area with the help of the police to confirm the presence of the leopard. The Forest Department said that further steps will be taken after tonight's inspection.
