Baby elephant that fell into well rescued; driven away towards herd of wild elephants

KOCHI: The baby elephant that fell in a well in Malayattoor has been rescued. The elephant was brought out of the well through a path made by moving earth using JCB. The elephant was then chased away towards the herd of wild elephants.

The baby elephant fell into the well of a rubber plantation in Illithottil this morning. A herd of elephants had stationed near the well making it difficult for anyone to go near the well. Later, the forest officials reached the spot and chased away the herd of elephants by bursting firecrackers. Following this, the rescue operation started at half past ten. According to the forest officials, the health condition of the baby elephant is satisfactory.

Meanwhile, a wild elephant attacked a person at Kuruvadweep in Wayanad. The injured person is Pakkam native Paul. After receiving primary treatment at Mananthavady Hospital, he was shifted to the Kozhikode Medical College.
