THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Oceanographic Research Center has issued a warning to the coastal areas of Thiruvananthapuram district as part of the black sea phenomenon. The authorities have informed that there is a possibility of sea attack due to waves of 1.4 to 1.7 meters from Kappil to Pozhiyoor until 11.30 tonight.
The National Oceanographic Research Center has advised fishermen and coastal residents to be vigilant as there is a possibility of sea erosion. As the sea is likely to become rougher, they should stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities. Small boats and yachts should be avoided. Just as launching fishing vessels into the sea during a period when there is a possibility of black sea phenomenon and high waves, landing them ashore is also dangerous. Therefore, it is advised that launching them into the sea and landing them ashore during a period when the waves are strong should be avoided.
Until the National Oceanographic Research Center withdraws the warning, all activities, including tourism, centered on beaches should be completely avoided. Fishing vessels (boats, yachts, etc.) should be safely moored in the harbor. Maintaining a safe distance between boats will avoid the possibility of collision. The safety of fishing equipment should be ensured. Trips to the beach and recreation at sea should be completely avoided. The authorities also warned that special caution should be exercised as there is a possibility of coastal erosion.
