
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bomb threat at a bank in Vizhinjam. The incident took place at the South Indian Bank branch in Mukkola, Vizhinjam. The fake threat message was received through the bank's official email at around 7 am today. The bank manager saw the threat message when the bank started functioning at around 10 am.
The employees ran out of the bank in panic and later informed the police after the manager saw the message. A team led by Vizhinjam SHO Sunish Gopi arrived at the scene, secured the area, and conducted extensive inspections with dog squads and a bomb disposal team.
The investigation extended to a shipping company office located in the same building, which transports goods to the nearby Vizhinjam port project site. After thorough searches of both premises, no explosives or suspicious items were found, confirming the threat to be a false alarm.
The message warned that the bank would explode at 10:30 am and that employees should evacuate. Bank officials informed the police that the message contained unrelated matters related to Tamil Nadu politics, including Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) references. The police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
