GURUVAYUR: Lorry and bulldozer collided. A woman waiting for a bus died after she was hit by the bulldozer's mechanical arm. The deceased is Girija (56), the wife of the late Raghu. The accident took place at around 9 am yesterday at the Choolpuram Company stop.
Girija's friend Vijayalakshmi jumped into a drain and escaped unhurt. Sarath (35), a porter from Kunnamkulam who was riding a bike, was also injured when the machine hit his arm.

Girija, a packing worker at the Muthuvattoor Kajah Tea Company, was waiting for a bus to go to work. The accident occurred when a bulldozer, travelling from Companypady Road towards the Chavakkad-Kunnamkulam main road, collided with a lorry heading towards Kunnamkulam.

The impact caused the bulldozer's arm to hit Girija's body. Girija was trapped between the wall and the bulldozer's arm. She was taken to the hospital but could not be saved. Sarath was admitted to a private hospital in Chavakkad. The lorry's fuel tank burst, causing diesel to be spilt onto the road. Traffic was disrupted for about an hour. The fire brigade arrived and cleared the road. Girija's children who died are Rakhi and Ramya.
