Byelection in 28 local body wards in state tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state election commissioner A Shahjahan has announced that the preparations for tomorrow's bypolls in 28 local bodywards of the state have been completed. Voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm tomorrow. Counting of votes is on Wednesday.

Apart from Idukki and Kasaragod, the by-elections are held in one distrct panchayat, one block panchayat, one corporation, two municipalities and 23-grama panchayat wards in 12 districts. A total of 97 candidates are contesting. 40 of them are women. 163 polling booths have been set up.

There will be 100 booths in Palakkad district panchayat, 14 in Thalikulam block panchayat, four in Kollam Corporation, two in municipalities and 43 booths in two gram panchayats.

The polling materials will be delivered to the respective polling booths by the sectoral officers before 12 noon today.

Counting will start from 10 on Wednesday in the respective centers. The result will be available at www.lsgeletion.kerala.gov.in.
