
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has informed that they are ready to take over the Sabarimala gold theft case. They will inform the Kerala High Court about it. The case is presently being investigated by the special investigation team formed by the state police. There were allegations that there are inter-state links in the Sabarimala gold theft case. Soon after this, the CBI has informed that they are ready to take over the investigation.
Meantime, more information has come to light in the Sabarimala gold theft case. It has been found that the first accused Unnikrishnan Potty posed as a sponsor with other people’s money and that the fraud was committed through an intermediary. Gold businessman Govardhan gave Unnikrishnan Potty Rs. 1.5 crore.
Businessmen in Chennai and Andhra Pradesh also gave money to the devaswom board through Potty. Unnikrishnan diverted and spent the money given by the businessmen. It is heard that Potty became rich after lending money for interest. A group called 'D Money' from Tamil Nadu had also arrived in Thiruvananthapuram. The gang had come for idol theft. A businessman had told the special investigation team that the gang had arrived with a vehicle full of money and that they had found an idol kept wrapped in a place.
