THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Travancore Devaswom Board member K P Sankaradas has been granted bail in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft case. It was the Kollam Vigilance Court that granted him statutory bail in the temple door frame case and the case related to the dwarapalaka idols. With this, all the accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case are now out on bail. Sankaradas had applied for bail after the Special Investigation Team failed to file the charge sheet within the stipulated time.
He became eligible for statutory bail as the investigation team did not submit the charge sheet even after 90 days of his arrest. Sankaradas was the last accused among the 13 in the case to remain in custody. Other accused, including A Padmakumar, Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru, and Unnikrishnan Potty, had already been granted bail earlier. Earlier, Sankaradas had sought bail on health grounds, but the court had rejected his plea. He was arrested by the SIT on January 14.
