CCTV clips from government-run theatres in Thiruvananthapuram circulating on porn sites

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CCTV clips from theatres owned by the State Film Development Corporation are being widely circulated on porn sites and Telegram groups. This was brought to light in a report released by The News Minute. The footage circulating on porn sites and in groups mostly includes visuals of couples engaging in intimacy inside the theatres. Even their faces are not blurred.

Along with this footage, links to join the Telegram channel are also being shared. A member of such a Telegram channel can view many sub-channels. The videos are available only for premium users. An exclusive channel is also made for users to send screenshots of the payment.

In the CCTV footage circulating, the KSFDC logo can be clearly seen on the seats in the theatres. In some of the footage, the watermark Kairali L3 is visible, and in some, the watermarks Sree BR Entrance and Nila BL Entrance are also visible. When the theatre authorities were contacted by the news portal, they feigned ignorance, saying that no such complaints had reached them. The theatre authorities said the CCTVs in the theatres were installed by Keltron, which made it nearly impossible for the clips to get leaked.

Earlier, CCTV footage from hospitals in Gujarat circulated on porn sites. Footage from operating theatres and other rooms in hospitals appeared on various porn sites. This included footage of pregnant women being examined. An investigation was launched by the police into this. The weak password of the CCTV network and the inadequate security system might have worsened the cybercrime.
