THIRUVANNATHAPURAM: There is a change in the schedule of trains departing from Kerala. Rail traffic was disrupted at many places on the Konkan route due to the heavy rains that lashed the last few days. Following this, the schedule of trains was changed.
The railways have informed that Netravati Express (Train No 16346) from Thiruvananthapuram to Lokmanya Tilak has been cancelled. The train that was supposed to leave this morning was cancelled. The Ernakulam Junction-Pune Poorna Express (Train No 22149) that left yesterday will be diverted via Madgaon. Ernakulam- Nizamuddin Mangala Express (Train No 12617) and Thiruvananthapuram Central- Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express (Train No 12483) will also operate on the same route.
Kochuveli-Amritsar Junction Superfast Express (Train No 12483) and Ernakulam- Hazrat Nizamuddin Mangala Express (Train No 12617) trains will be diverted via Palakkad, Railways informed.
A tree fell on the railway track near Lourdes Hospital on Ernakulam-Thrissur road the other day. The Venad Express from Ernakulam to Aluva side and the Mangala Express from the opposite direction had a gap of only 20 minutes to pass through it. Meanwhile, the tree fell. The Railways has started an investigation into the incident. The tree hit the power line and caught a small fire. The fire force came immediately and cut down the tree, but the electricity connection was restored after a long time. Train traffic was disrupted for two and a half hours. Mangala and Venad Express trains have been halted. The Mangala Express was near the accident site. The tree fell on the road where the bus and other vehicles were passing. Traffic through this route was also blocked for a long time.
