Child Rights Commission visits school; Director of Public Education submits final report on boy’s death

KOLLAM: The Child Rights Commission visited Thevalakkara Boys' High School in Kollam, where a student was electrocuted. Child Rights Commission Chairman K V Manoj Kumar visited the school and inspected the situation. He told media that the power line lying low for so many years is considered as a lapse. He clarified that the incident is being taken very seriously and will request the government to take action against those responsible.

Meantime, the Director of Public Education has submitted the final report on the incident. The report of the Director of Public Education has cited serious lapse. The report also clarified that the headmistress did not ensure safety protocols.


Midhun, an eighth-class student of Thevalakkara Boys' High School, died yesterday after coming in touch with a live wire. He was electrocuted while trying to retrieve the slipper that had fallen onto the roof of the cycle shed on the school compound. He is the eldest son of Manu of Manu Bhavan in Vilandhara and Suja.
