Cinematic escape from police custody; Kollam native couple arrested from Tamil Nadu

KOLLAM: The accused, who escaped from police custody while being put on precautionary detention, was caught again on Thursday. Aju Mansoor (26) of Puthenveetil in Kalluthazham Vayal, Kilikollur, was arrested. Binsha, who helped rescue Aju, was also arrested in the incident. The duo were arrested from Thoppur near Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu. The police had issued a lookout notice for them.

The incident took place at Kilikollur police station on Tuesday evening. The accused was helped by his wife, Binsha, who was waiting with a scooter outside the police station. Aju is a history-sheeter involved in many drug-related cases.

On Tuesday, the police took the accused into custody for precautionary detention under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in NDPS Act and registered an arrest. While the accused was being made to sign the forms, he ran outside the station, evading the eyes of officials. Binsha was waiting for him outside.
