THRISSUR: Union Minister Suresh Gopi has landed in a fresh controversy over the reply he gave to an elderly woman's question. The incident took place this morning at the Kalunk Sabha held in Irinjalakuda. The woman had asked if he could help her recover her deposit from the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank. To this, Suresh Gopi replied that she should approach the Chief Minister instead. When the elderly woman asked whether it would be possible for her to meet the Chief Minister, Suresh Gopi, in a sarcastic tone, responded: “Then climb onto my chest.”

"Can the Chief Minister take steps to return the Karuvannur Bank money seized by the ED to the depositors? Ask your Chief Minister to accept those funds from the ED. I am saying this openly. Otherwise, go and meet your MLA,” Suresh Gopi said.

When the elderly woman asked whether it would be possible for her to meet the Chief Minister, Suresh Gopi, in a sarcastic tone, responded: “Then climb onto my chest, your minister is living right here.” His comment drew laughter from the crowd.

When the woman pointed out, “Sir, aren’t you our minister?” Suresh Gopi replied: “No, I am a minister of this country. I have already given you my answer. Meet your Chief Minister and ask him to accept that amount from the ED and then distribute it among you.”
