
ALAPPUZHA: The Ayilam Mahotsavam at the Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple will be held tomorrow. Ayilyam Pooja and Ezhunnalth will be held tomorrow. As part of this, the district collector has issued an order declaring a local holiday for all educational institutions and government offices in the district on Wednesday, November 12. However, public examinations will be held as scheduled.
Mannarasala Ayilyam
The Thiruvabharanam in the form of Vasuki is worn on the day of Ayilyam. As part of the Ayilyam Mahotsavam, Mannarasala Amma, Savitri Antharjanam will give darshan to devotees near the Nilavara from 9 am. After the midday pooja, the Nagapadmakalam for Ayilyam Pooja will be drawn in front of the nilavara by the family head. Once the kalam is completed, Amma will bathe in the Theerthakulam and reach the temple, and after the rituals, Ayilyam Pooja will be performed.
Once the Ezhunnallathu reaches Illam, the Ayilyam pooja will be performed by Amma including offering of Noorum Palum, Guruthi and Thattil Noorum Palum The Ayilyam festival will conclude with the temple visit of Amma Savitri Antharjanam. This is a special festival of importance to the Naga gods. It is believed that this ceremony will help the devotees to obtain the blessings of the Naga gods and remove the evils of the serpents.
