THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has issued an order extending the time period for those who receive appointments under the compassionate employment scheme to join duty, from the existing 30 days to a period ranging from 45 days up to six months.
Currently, candidates appointed through the PSC (Public Service Commission) are granted up to six months to join duty upon request. The new order makes this provision applicable to compassionate appointments as well. Accordingly, those working abroad, engaged in research, or bound by employment bonds can be granted up to six months; those working within India can be granted up to three months; and for other requests, a maximum of one and a half months can be allowed under the new order.
