Comprehensive contribution to field of literature; Poet Prabha Varma wins ONV award

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Poet Prabha Varma has been awarded this year's ONV Award for his comprehensive contribution to the field of literature. The award, which includes a cash prize of Rs. 3 lakh, a statuette and a citation, was instituted by the ONV Cultural Academy.

The jury, comprising Dr. M. Leelavathi, Dr. George Onakkur and Alankode Leelakrishnan, unanimously decided the winner of the award. The jury assessed that Prabha Varma, who has made Malayalam literature nationally notable again by receiving the Saraswati Award, one of India's highest literary honours, is deserving of the award. ONV Cultural Academy President Adoor Gopalakrishnan announced that the award will be presented at a function to be held at the Tagore Theatre on the 27th, the birth anniversary of ONV.
