Congress councilor of Shornur Municipality resigns for not taking action against Rahul Mamkootathil

SHORNUR: Congress councilor of Shornur Municipality resigned her post in protest against Congress' stand towards Rahul Mamgkootathil and alleging that V K Sreekandan MP interfered in the implementation of development in a biased manner. Sandhya submitted her resignation to the municipal chairman last evening. Sandhya has been a Congress councilor in the Anthimahakalanchira ward for the last ten years.

'I protest against the party's stand towards Rahul facing sexual allegations. This is a protest as a woman. Since there are no posts in the Congress, I did not say this in the committees. However, had briefed to the leaders. V K Sreekandan provided high mast lights and street lights to all the wards of Shoranur, but did not consider my ward. Although informed the block and constituency presidents about this, no solution was taken,’ Sandhya said after tendering her resignation.

However, Sreekandan MP said Sandhya did not request this and cited personal matters for her resignation. Cannot give if asked personally. He said there may be other reasons for her resignation.
