Congress to field K S Sabarinathan in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation; list to be released tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress is planning to field K S Sabarinathan in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation in local body elections. He is likely to contest from Kowdiar ward. The decision was taken at the core committee meet convened at the DCC office yesterday.

Sabarinathan is contesting from the adjacent ward Kowdiar as Sasthamangalam, where his house is located, is a women's ward. The decision of the AICC is to field senior leaders in the corporation elections. S P Deepak, S A Sundar and Vanchiyoor Babu are on the CPM's candidate list. V V Rajesh, Karamana Ajith and others are on the BJP's list.

Senior leader K Muraleedharan said Sabarinathan will contest from Kowdiar and that the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation will be wrested by the UDF. ‘The candidates list will be released today or tomorrow. We are working to come in the first place. The Congress has completed the selection of candidates for about fifty seats in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The committee that met yesterday approved it. Talks with constituent parties are progressing. The first list will be released tomorrow itself. The party has considered all sections from senior to junior. The first list to be prepared was that of the Congress,' said Muraleedharan.
