THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan met the Governor at Lok Bhavan to reach a consensus on the appointment of the Vice Chancellor. The Chief Minister arrived at the Governor's residence on Sunday evening. Although official details are not available, it is reported that the Chief Minister even invited the Governor to the Christmas party being organised at Cliff House. The meeting lasted for 15 minutes.

The Supreme Court had asked the Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia Committee to submit one name each for the appointment of VCs in technical and digital universities. The ultimatum is to give the names by the 16th. The court will issue the appointment order on the 17th. Ministers P. Rajeev and R. Bindu met the Governor the other day to reach a consensus on the names, but to no avail. The Governor asked the ministers why the Chief Minister was missing from the meeting.

The Chief Minister was in Kannur at that time due to the local body elections. It is reported that the Chief Minister reached Lok Bhavan in a final bid to persuade the Governor to reach a consensus before giving the names. The government had rejected the Governor's suggestion to make Prof. Ciza Thomas the Vice Chancellor of the Digital University.
